We recently shared how much we love planning New Year’s Eve weddings, and celebrations of all shapes and sizes really suit our need for variety and exploring solutions to new challenges in event planning. Another favorite of ours is the private home wedding, because what could be more personalized and intimate than a celebration in your own backyard? Combine the two for a NYE wedding at home and you have a recipe for the best wedding plans on a night your guests will remember all year long.
Our bride, Kelsea approached us with a plan for a wedding ceremony at her alma mater, the Academy of the Sacred Heart, and a reception following at her family home in River Ridge. The property was the perfect place to host a reception, featuring beautiful gardens, a private man-made lake for launching fireworks, and the perfect set-up for catering logistics on site.
Because it was important to the bride that she get married at the school’s chapel where she was raised, she opted to have here ceremony on December 30, the day before New Year’s Eve, since the school and church would be closed for the holiday. After the ceremony celebration, the couple, along with a small selection of their families and friends, enjoyed a jovial rehearsal dinner in the schools beautiful courtyard on St. Charles Avenue, allowing for a chance to revel in the atmosphere of the celebratory weekend, while gaining momentum for the New Year’ Eve countdown at the wedding reception on the following evening at the bride’s family home.
This event was so personal and relaxed because the couple had committed to enjoying themselves fully with their guests. Even as it rained a bit on the wedding day prior to the ceremony, Kelsea and Martin were both in great spirits, smiling from ear to ear and sharing their positive spirit and sense of humor with their love ones. Perhaps our favorite wedding day detail was Kelsea’s blush Monique Lhuillier gown, and fluffy pink block heels – an ensemble she proudly wore twice, on each day of the celebration, as did the groom and both wedding parties!
With Kelsea’s superb taste and eye for design, Sapphire Events executed a two-day affair to manage load-in and load-out of some of the best wedding decorations we have had the privilege of overseeing! Bold black and white linens were the foundation for feminine blush and gilded details that set the tone for the evening. Our stellar event management team executed the logistics seamlessly, creating a flawless and fun atmosphere for Kelsea, Martin and their friends and families to ring in the new year!
We teamed up with our reliable team of creative partners for this black-tie event: Kim Starr Wise, Luminous Events, and Perrier Party Rentals delivered top of the line service (as always!) to make this tented wedding at home come to life. And the bride’s personal style touches were exquisite – take a look at her blush Monique Lhuillier gown and white formal bridesmaids dresses, a look we have been drooling over all year!
